Design step 2 involved us working towards one set idea for our project. The majority of it was a classification scheme and a design matrix, which have allowed us to narrow down our options to see which concept is best fit for the goal we would like to accomplish. So far, it seems that digital sound kits are the most viable.
Classification Scheme
The first part of step two was creating a classification scheme, which is a method of organizing ideas that allows us to carefully think about key aspects of each idea side by side. The document helped us to envision what exactly we wanted our project to look like.
Design Sketches
Although this was not a direct part of the project, we were tasked with learning how to properly sketch from a design sketch course. This allowed us to correctly and efficiently sketch our ideas later in the process.
Finally, with a design matrix, we were able to evaluate our ideas as a group. We did this objectively, by finding what we value most in designing this product with percentages and weighed the value of each concept.
Reflection During design step 2, I feel like we were a bit more organized but still not very organized. It was difficult to actually allocate time to work on these steps, since we had been working on the incredibly time consuming sketches for the majority of class. This was perhaps my biggest complaint, because otherwise it went more smoothly than before in terms of getting things done. We worked much smarter this time around, and it really showed in how quickly yet efficiently we finished the steps.
