Overview This project was about creating an imaginary resort underwater that had something to do with features of the seafloor. We had to show the features and a description of the resort in a brochure that we created. My resort was called the "Australian Sea Floor Resort". I chose Australia because after doing my research I found that the ocean around it had all the features of the sea that I wanted to put in my brochure. A few of the features I included in my brochure are coral reefs, volcanoes, and submarine canyons.
Content Coral Reef: An underwater ecosystem characterized by reef building corals Volcanoes: Ruptures in the earth that allow lava and gasses to escape from a magma chamber and on to the surface Mid Ocean Ridge: A sea floor mountain system formed by plate tectonics Submarine Canyon: A steep sided valley cut into the seabed of a continental slope Ocean Trench: Topographic depressions on the sea floor that are extremely deep Ocean Strait: A naturally formed navigable water way that connects two large bodies of water Sea Caves: Underwater Caves formed by the wave action of the sea
Reflection Since it was such a short project, there is not a whole lot to reflect on in terms of how I did. One thing I can think of is that I managed my time well. I did not rush into the project to finish but I didn't turn it in late either. Another aspect I did well on was my research. I did a lot of research on specific examples of my features to see where the best location would be to place my resort. Something I didn't do so well on was the look of the brochure, which I should have colored more instead of outlining the lines. Another thing I could work on is staying focused on the project.
